Call when you can, text when you can’t. Calling 911 is always the best option. But if you are in circumstances where that is not available, you can text. A few key tips to remember:

  • Include your exact location and nature of your emergency
  • Use clear, simple language — no abbreviations or slang
  • Do not include photos or videos in your text
  • Put phone on silent if incoming messages will sound and compromise your safety
  • Do not text and drive

Together we can build a brighter future.
