Ilene Shehan

Chief Operating Officer

Ms. Shehan received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Central Missouri State University and began working at Hope House in April 1996 as court advocate. In 1998, she became director of court services, and in 2000, she was promoted to director of shelter and legal services. After being promoted to vice president of programs in charge of the shelter, children’s services, court advocacy, legal and hospital programs, she became chief operating officer. In this position, Ms. Shehan continues to oversee the aforementioned programs as well as facilities departments and issues related to overall operations. Recognized as a highly motivated leader, Ms. Shehan graduated from the inaugural class of the Greater Good Nonprofit Leaders Program facilitated by The Allstate Foundation in partnership with Northwestern Kellogg School of Management’s Center for Nonprofit Management. Ms. Shehan is currently the president-elect of the Rotary Club of Independence, Missouri, in line to be the second female president of an 80-year-old Rotary Club.
