The Communities' Response to Domestic Violence

Coordinated Community Council

Hope House is very fortunate to have the support of city leaders and concerned citizens in the communities it serves. In 1996, Independence became the first city in Eastern Jackson County to form a Coordinated Community Council (CCC). Since that time Lee's Summit and Raytown have also enlisted the help of community leaders to address the issues of domestic violence within their cities.
The goals of the councils are to monitor and coordinate the response to domestic violence within their communities. Individuals that make up this group represent the following agencies/groups:

  • law enforcement
  • medical
  • Department of Family Services
  • domestic violence detectives
  • mental health
  • prosecutors
  • education
  • adult abuse
  • victims advocates
  • probation and parole
  • religious
  • men's treatment providers
  • Hope House representatives
  • members of the community

Quarterly meetings are held in each city.
